Wintergirls
by Laurie Halse Anderson

"Wintergirls" follows the story of Lia, a girl who is struggling to overcome the death of her best best friend, Cassie. Simultaneously, Lia is suffering from anorexia. This novel is fabulously written and extremely insightful. It is unequivocally an easy-read and a page turner. I unreservedly recommend this book!

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
by Jonathan Safran Foer

This novel follows Oskar Schell, an inquisitive nine-year-old boy, who must deal with the grief and anguish of losing his father in the attack of the twin towers. Some time after the death, Oskar unearths a key from his father's closet. This find unreservedly intrigues him and sanctions him to embark on a jaunt across New York's boroughs to discover the keyhole. In regards to the main plot of Oskar's endeavor, it is, at times, boring and monotonous. In fact, I was more enthralled by the side plot of Oskar's grandparents. Furthermore, as for the characters, I much preferred the characters of the grandparents more than I did the main character, Oskar. I enjoyed that this story elucidates how different characters struggled to overcome and wholly process grief. If you are on an excursion for an emotional read, this book is for you!

16 year old Bree Matthews is grieving for the death of her mom while she enrolls to a college program for gifted high schoolers. On her first night she witnesses a magical assault, causing her to question whether her mother death was true an accident. A failed attempt at erasing her memory of this night causes Brees own unique magic and memories that have been previously altered to become exposed. She will do everything to reveal the truth, even infiltrating the people responsible for erasing her memory -the Legendborn. How far will Bree go to uncover the truth about her mother’s mysterious death and is she willing to join the fight of a magical war? This book does a great job of realistically portraying grief and racism, overall great writing. I was hooked on everything about this book especially its amazing characters and offers some great romance. Overall I give this a 5 stars, I found this book on tiktok and it definitely deserves the hype and more! I can’t wait for the sequel next year (even though i must wait) You should read this book!

Invisible Emmie
by Terri Libenson

View in Library Catalog

In the fictional graphic novel by Terri Libenson the main characters are two girls with contradicting personalities and social statuses in 7th grade at Lakefront Middle School. The author switches the points of views of the main characters in two different cartooning styles, Emmie’s is more plain and boring, whilst Katie’s is more bright and colorful. Emmie is a very quiet and shy girl, with one real friend, and loves to draw. Katie on the other hand, is popular, athletic, and has tons of friends. Emmie and Katie both like the same guy, but that was kay until Emmie’s never-to-be-seen corny love note gets lost and everyone in the school sees it.

A History Of The World In 6 Glasses
by Tom Standage

This history book is unreservedly remarkable. I do not read history books often, but I am unreservedly glad I read this one as it apprises readers about the history of the world in a pleasurable regard. The idea of manifesting the course of history through the delineation of six distinct beverages is astonishing and remarkable. Beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and cola are the beverages manifested throughout the book. Each of these drinks have shaped history and symbolized salient things. For instance, beer was scrutinized as a beverage that brought upon a fruitful life for Sumerians, and it was showcased in a myriad of literature. Wine was regarded as medicine and spirits played a prodigious role in the American Revolution. Coffee was an eminent drink during the Age of Reason when scientists and other intellectuals gathered together in coffeehouses . Coca-cola was initially inaugurated as a patent medicine, and it has now become a symbol of globalization. I prodigiously recommend this to anyone yearning to learn about world history!
