Into The Wild
by Jon Krakauer

View in Library Catalog

"Into the Wild" recounts the real-life experiences and story of Chris McCandless. Prodigiously inspired by Henry David Thoreau, McCandless embarks on a calamitous and harrowing jaunt to the desolate Alaskan wilderness in order to procure a transcendentalist experience. The unique aspect of this book is that the author, Jon Krakauer, makes note the readers will have to decide whether the journey of McCandless makes him a valiant hero or an obdurate and narcissistic individual. The book discusses some of the reasons that he embarked on such an audacious journey and left his family with no word of warning. In its entity, I think this book is quite interesting and insightful. If you are fond of nonfiction stories, this book is for you!

I thought this was a really good book. And it was the type of book I’ve never read before. It describes a completely different type of society.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
by J.K. Rowling

View in Library Catalog

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is the sixth installment in the "Harry Potter" series. In this novel, readers will be able to unearth the identity of the half-blood prince. Furthermore, this book dives in to the character of Draco Malfoy, the coined bully, who appears to be going through an arduous time. While the atmosphere and tone of this book is prodigiously odious, the book also covers a more light-hearted aspect by manifesting teenage love. This book is probably my favorite novel in the series simply because readers will be able to procure more knowledge on each of the characters. I unreservedly recommend this to anyone who is fond of the romance genre!

The Crossover
by Kwame Alexander

View in Library Catalog

The poetic novel The Crossover by Kwame Alexander is told only with a series of poems and verses. The main character is a boy who loves basketball named Josh Bell, he has an identical twin brother named Jordan who is referred to as JB throughout the novel, also loves basketball. You might think the twins are pretty similar, but no they are nothing like that. For example, JB likes shooting hoops from far away, unlike Josh who likes taking closing up dunks. JB likes North Carolina, but Josh likes Duke. JB likes trash-talking on the court but Josh stays quiet. Throughout the story, these small differences cause big problems. Then, the ¨Incident¨ happens and it finally changes both of their perspectives.

This book was really good. It is about a boy with facial differences that goes to school for the first time. While he meets some really nice kids, he also faces bullying from others. He overcomes this and makes his own place in school. I recommend this book to kids.
