Into The Wild
by Jon Krakauer

View in Library Catalog

"Into the Wild" recounts the real-life experiences and story of Chris McCandless. Prodigiously inspired by Henry David Thoreau, McCandless embarks on a calamitous and harrowing jaunt to the desolate Alaskan wilderness in order to procure a transcendentalist experience. The unique aspect of this book is that the author, Jon Krakauer, makes note the readers will have to decide whether the journey of McCandless makes him a valiant hero or an obdurate and narcissistic individual. The book discusses some of the reasons that he embarked on such an audacious journey and left his family with no word of warning. In its entity, I think this book is quite interesting and insightful. If you are fond of nonfiction stories, this book is for you!
