Feeding Time At The Zoo

I liked this book because I love animals. It was very long for me. I learned about what animals eat.

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
by Jonathan Safran Foer

View in Library Catalog

This novel follows Oskar Schell, an inquisitive nine-year-old boy, who must deal with the grief and anguish of losing his father in the attack of the twin towers. Some time after the death, Oskar unearths a key from his father's closet. This find unreservedly intrigues him and sanctions him to embark on a jaunt across New York's boroughs to discover the keyhole. In regards to the main plot of Oskar's endeavor, it is, at times, boring and monotonous. In fact, I was more enthralled by the side plot of Oskar's grandparents. Furthermore, as for the characters, I much preferred the characters of the grandparents more than I did the main character, Oskar. I enjoyed that this story elucidates how different characters struggled to overcome and wholly process grief. If you are on an excursion for an emotional read, this book is for you!

A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Miserable Mill
by Lemony Snicket

"The Miserable Mill" is the fourth installment in the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. In this novel, three orhans, the Baudelaire children, are to now reside with an owner of a lumber. This place is unequivocally weird and exudes an odious atmosphere. Not only that, but the cunning Count Olaf is after the Baudelaire fortunate---money left behind by their parents. I absolutely love the unique writing style of this book. All of the characters are so fun to read about because of their distinct personalities. I unreservedly recommend this title!

Of Mice And Men
by John Steinbeck

While I think that this novel is historically significant, I am not particularly fond of it. Taking place during the Great Depression, the two main characters, Lenny and George, work on a ranch to one day procure their dream life. This book discusses the blazing idea of the Ämerican dream. In general, I think that this book is boring and monotonous. I was not intrigued by the plot and the characters were plain. However, if you are fond of classic novels, I recommend this novel!

The Poppy War
by R.f. Kuang

This was a really great, dark fantasy inspired by ancient China that follows Rin, a poor farm-girl who discovers her connection to shamanism after getting into a prestigious war school. This book is good for older teens (18+ for a lot of violence and mature themes) who are moving on from YA and looking for something more "adult".
