The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins

View in Library Catalog

This dystopian novel features a society that is divided into twelve distinct districts. The Capitol of Panem is an appalling regime that comprises of the affluent and powerful. These rich and corrupt people seek pleasure by hosting a heinous event known as the "Hunger Games" in which two people from each district are randomly selected. The Hunger Games is essentially a tournament in which people must survive and eschew death. There are different terrains and a multitudinous array of obstacles that the Capitol presents in order to present a challenge. Ultimately, there will be one survivor. The novel follows Katniss Everdeen, a pertinacious and headstrong girl who must undergo the appalling experience. I absolutely love everything about this book; it is unequivocally a page-turner. Each character is marvelously crafted. My favorite is indubitably Peeta; his sweet and charming personality will make anyone adore him. This book further manifests how robustness, power, and wealth, can make people perform odious things. I recommend this novel to anyone who is a fan of dystopian novels!

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
by J.K. Rowling

View in Library Catalog

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is the sixth installment in the "Harry Potter" series. In this novel, readers will be able to unearth the identity of the half-blood prince. Furthermore, this book dives in to the character of Draco Malfoy, the coined bully, who appears to be going through an arduous time. While the atmosphere and tone of this book is prodigiously odious, the book also covers a more light-hearted aspect by manifesting teenage love. This book is probably my favorite novel in the series simply because readers will be able to procure more knowledge on each of the characters. I unreservedly recommend this to anyone who is fond of the romance genre!

Fault In Our Stars Book

The fault in our Stars is such a good novel! It's sad, it's funny, and it's serious! If you haven't read this book you need to immediately! It's about two teenagers who bond over the fact that they have cancer; instead of focusing on their sickness, they find happiness in a romantic relationship.

The Body Of Christopher Creed
by Carol Plum-Ucci

View in Library Catalog

This mystery novel is about a boy, Christoper Creed, whose disappearance remains an enigma to all. The one thing he left before he vanished was an e-mail. I thought this book was a solid read. The overall book is interesting but there are some parts that become monotonous and boring. I recommend this novel to those who are fond of the mystery genre!

This play follows the story of a professor who takes on the a challenge of transforming a girl to fit the mold of the affluent class. I think that the overall story is solid, but it gets monotonous at some parts. I overall do not recommend this play.

Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book
by Jennifer Donnelly

View in Library Catalog

"Lost in a Book" is a retelling of Disney's movie, "Beauty and the Beast." Readers will once encounter the same characters featured in the original movie such as Belle, Beast, etc.. While Belle is held captive in the Beast's sumptuous castle, she decides to pick up an enchanted book called "Nevermore." As soon as she reads this enigmatic book, she becomes immersed into the grandeur and splendor of the tale's world. This book is beautifully crafted and unequivocally one of my favorite retellings of the story. However, some parts were confusing. I unreservedly recommend this novel to those who are fond of the fantasy genre!
